Initial full-scale tests for the Luxembourg tramway

Initial full-scale tests for the Luxembourg tramway
published onJuly 20, 2017

On 12 July, the first of Luxembourg's trams left the depot for initial full-scale tests. This tram line provides a public transport link between Luxembourg city centre and the airport.

The first tests took place along Kennedy Boulevard, between the maintenance centre and the forthcoming Luxexpo tram stop. Tests will continue until 10 December 2017, when the line is scheduled to start operating.

Mobility was heavily involved in the implementation of this network, with responsibility for railway signalling. For the first time, this safety solution will be implemented at SIL 4, using programmable PLCs and safety systems. The first dynamic tests relating to railway signalling will take place in August.
