Improve your way, research programme

Our activities are carried out in what can, in many respects, be considered as extreme conditions, particularly in terms of stress and fatigue management. In order to enhance our preventive response, Mobility is entering into a research programme in this area : Improve your way.

Our activities are carried out in what can, in many respects, be considered as extreme conditions, particularly in terms of stress and fatigue management. In order to enhance our preventive response, Mobility is entering into a research programme in this area.

A team of university researchers specialising in these fields will join forces with an expert in medical assistance for major events. The Maewan expedition will serve as a case study and offer opportunities for experimentation. Conditions on board the Maewan amplify the problems caused by stress, anxiety and lack of sleep. In confined, secluded settings, crew members implement adaptation and regulation strategies which it will be useful to analyse. The extreme situations will be studied and can be transposed to a work setting.

The aim is to rise to the challenges of fatigue, using the extreme experience on the Maewan to devise solutions for Mobility’s work environment:

  • Understand how fatigue and stress can prevent people doing their job properly.
  • Determine strategies to reduce fatigue and stress levels.
  • Apply these strategies to cope with operational fatigue and stress by determining target areas for prevention, information and regulation, implementing measures, organisations and managerial methods that can prevent or reduce these phenomena.
