Located in the Vosges du Nord mountains, the Saverne tunnel is one of the main components of the second section of the LGV Est Européenne high-speed railway line, intended to put Strasbourg at less than two hours from Paris.Commercial operation at 320 km/h.

Twin-tube one-way tunnel spanning 4,000 m in length :

  • 7 galleries.
  • 19 MV cells.
  • 5   20KV/410V transformers.
  • 5 normal/emergency low-voltage master distribution panels.
  • 80 emergency telephones and 32 firefighting kits.
  • 2000 lights.
  • 5 kms of 20KV MV cable / 60 km of LV cable /  16 kms of fibre-optic cable.
  • 5 inverters.
  • 16 emergency radio communication antennas.
  • 14 fire doors capable of withstanding the passage of high-speed trains.
  • Utilities for technical rooms.
  • Centralised technical management (CTM) system for automation and supervision.
