Eurotunnel, which operates the Channel Tunnel, has chosen Mobility for the modification of the 25 kV power supply scheme for the railway traction line. Mobility will be the contract holder in a consortium with Actemium Boulogne.

The structure, which is around 50 km in length, comprises two railway tunnels and one service tunnel. This assignment is part of the Eurotunnel RIAC project to reinforce the overhead power supply infrastructure. In particular, it entails the modification and addition of 25 kV high-voltage units to create additional injection points on the overhead lines towards the middle of the two tunnels. The limited space in the existing technical rooms, and the fact that the work must be performed while the tunnels remain in operation, are issues that must be examined and resolved in order to complete this complex project. Commissioning is scheduled for a year from now.
