Lyon: a trolleybus pioneer in collaboration with Mobility
published onJanuary 12, 2017

Although widely used in the rest of Europe, trolleybuses are little used in France. Yet they are a clean and effective mode of transport that can be easily incorporated in built-up areas and hilly cities.

Lyon has decided to develop the use of this mode of transport and SYTRAL (the joint association for transport in the Rhône department and greater Lyon area) has selected Mobility and TSO for the modification of the overhead contact lines for the C3 trolleybus.

This complex project entails work along a 5.5 km stretch. The Mobility/TSO consortium will be responsible for removing the existing overhead line and installing a new line along the new route. This operation is to take place in a busy urban area, without disrupting the operation of other tram and trolleybus lines that intersect with the C3.

With the C3 project, Mobility is proud to be helping Lyon to remain a trolleybus pioneer in France.

Note: Mobility, in collaboration with its subsidiary Cegelec Prague, also offers on-board traction equipment specifically for trolleybuses (more information).
