The Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur (MNCA, Metropolitan Area of Nice Côte d’Azur) is extending its tramway network with the construction of the East-West line (T2), which will connect the port with the airport via a 9.5 km branch and the port with the CADAM administrative centre via a 9.1 km branch.

MNCA has engaged Mobility to install the railway signalling system, and so, following deployment on the Luxembourg tramway, Mobility will once again deploy its new-generation, safety calculator-based Railway Safety Signalling system.

The project is notable for a 3.3 km stretch of the line in a tunnel in the town centre, for which Mobility is developing new, special equipment such as spacing signals (zones demarcating track sections on which only one tram may be present) and the Automatic Train Stopping System, designed to stop a tram if it passes one of these signals.

Mobility's project team will be responsible for delivering the design study, equipment supply and manufacturing services, work and installation, testing, commissioning and training, with service scheduled to start in the summer of 2018!
