VINCI Energies teams up with the Initiatives-Cœur boat for the Route du Rhum race
Since September 2017, VINCI Energies has been a performance-related partner for the Initiatives-Cœur yacht. This project, launched in 2012 in collaboration with Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, aims to save the lives of children with heart defects, for whom surgery in their own countries is not possible.
Every race presents the opportunity for a large-scale awareness-raising campaign, whereby the boat's sponsors, through their donations, fund surgery for children suffering from serious cardiac malformations. Since the launch of the initiative in 2012, the lives of 155 children have been saved. Aside from the appeal of the sporting adventure, it was thus the human aspect that prompted Vinci Energies' commitment to this initiative.
The involvement of our group in this project has provided the team with the means to improve the performance of its monohull, as sailor Sam Davies emphasises: “Preparation is essential and my team has put in a lot of work, particularly to reduce the weight of the boat, to improve its performance, and to adapt it to my frame and way of sailing. It is thanks to these efforts that we get results.”
Sam will be setting off on her third Vendée Globe competition in 2020, but will be participating for the first time in the Route du Rhum, on 4 November. We will keep a very close eye on her performance!
